Deployment Method:

NOTE

This applies to both open source and commercial editions of Chocolatey.

1. Enter Your Internal Repository Url

(this should look similar to https://community.chocolatey.org/api/v2/)

2. Setup Your Environment

1. Ensure you are set for organizational deployment

Please see the organizational deployment guide

2. Get the package into your environment

  • Open Source or Commercial:
    • Proxy Repository - Create a proxy nuget repository on Nexus, Artifactory Pro, or a proxy Chocolatey repository on ProGet. Point your upstream to https://community.chocolatey.org/api/v2/. Packages cache on first access automatically. Make sure your choco clients are using your proxy repository as a source and NOT the default community repository. See source command for more information.
    • You can also just download the package and push it to a repository Download

3. Copy Your Script

choco upgrade crushee.portable -y --source="'INTERNAL REPO URL'" [other options]

See options you can pass to upgrade.

See best practices for scripting.

Add this to a PowerShell script or use a Batch script with tools and in places where you are calling directly to Chocolatey. If you are integrating, keep in mind enhanced exit codes.

If you do use a PowerShell script, use the following to ensure bad exit codes are shown as failures:

choco upgrade crushee.portable -y --source="'INTERNAL REPO URL'"
$exitCode = $LASTEXITCODE

Write-Verbose "Exit code was $exitCode"
$validExitCodes = @(0, 1605, 1614, 1641, 3010)
if ($validExitCodes -contains $exitCode) {
  Exit 0
}

Exit $exitCode

- name: Install crushee.portable
  win_chocolatey:
    name: crushee.portable
    version: '2.4.6'
    source: INTERNAL REPO URL
    state: present

See docs at https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/latest/modules/win_chocolatey_module.html.

chocolatey_package 'crushee.portable' do
  action    :install
  source   'INTERNAL REPO URL'
  version  '2.4.6'
end

See docs at https://docs.chef.io/resource_chocolatey_package.html.

cChocoPackageInstaller crushee.portable
{
    Name     = "crushee.portable"
    Version  = "2.4.6"
    Source   = "INTERNAL REPO URL"
}

Requires cChoco DSC Resource. See docs at https://github.com/chocolatey/cChoco.

package { 'crushee.portable':
  ensure   => '2.4.6',
  provider => 'chocolatey',
  source   => 'INTERNAL REPO URL',
}

Requires Puppet Chocolatey Provider module. See docs at https://forge.puppet.com/puppetlabs/chocolatey.

4. If applicable - Chocolatey configuration/installation

See infrastructure management matrix for Chocolatey configuration elements and examples.

NOTE

This package is likely a meta/virtual (*) or an installer (*.install) or portable (*.portable) application package.

  • Meta/virtual (*) - has a dependency on the *.install or the *.portable package - it is provided for discoverability and for other packages to take a dependency on.
  • Portable (*.portable/*.commandline (deprecated naming convention)/*.tool (deprecated naming convention)) - usually zips or archives that require no administrative access to install.
  • Install (*.install/*.app (deprecated naming convention)) - uses native installers, usually requires administrative access to install.

Crushee

Crushee is an image compression tool, powered by Electron and Node.js. You can carefully tune your images locally to meet your needs, without having to re-upload to a web service, or restart an application every time.

Screenshot

Features

  • Input several different image file formats (e.g. JPEG, PNG, GIF, SVG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC)
  • Optionally convert to select image file formats (e.g. JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF)
  • Resize images - define an exact size, or upscale/downscale while preserving the original aspect ratio
  • Batch processing - analyze, crush and save multiple images at once!
  • Quality Level sliders - experiment and find the perfect balance between picture quality and file size!
  • Advanced format-specific options, such as Chroma Subsampling Level and Color Count
  • Light/Dark Mode app theme

Package Parameters

  • /NoShim - Opt out of creating a GUI shim.
  • /NoDesktopShortcut - Opt out of creating a Desktop shortcut.
  • /NoProgramsShortcut - Opt out of creating a Programs shortcut in your Start Menu.
  • /Start - Automatically start Crushee after installation completes.

Package Notes

This package may create a shim for Crushee.exe, as is typical for a portable application package. However, shimgen will create a GUI shim, which will not wait for the underlying process to exit by default. This may cause issues with displaying console output when viewing debug messages. Users requiring this functionality should pass the --shimgen-waitforexit switch to ensure the shim behaves correctly.

When using the /Start package parameter, you may see a large CLIXML block logged to stderr. This is a known issue with Chocolatey's Start-ChocolateyProcessAsAdmin cmdlet, and is not necessarily indicative of an error condition. Until this is addressed, you should ensure the failOnStandardError feature is disabled while installing/upgrading this package.

For future upgrade operations, consider opting into Chocolatey's useRememberedArgumentsForUpgrades feature to avoid having to pass the same arguments with each upgrade:

choco feature enable --name="'useRememberedArgumentsForUpgrades'"

VERIFICATION
Verification is intended to assist the Chocolatey moderators and community
in verifying that this package's contents are trustworthy.

The packaged Windows portable archive is available for independent download via the
Releases page on Crushee's GitHub repository. A download link for the packaged version
is included at the following URL:
https://github.com/xanderfrangos/crushee/releases/tag/v2.4.6

For convenience, this is a direct URL to the relevant asset:
https://github.com/xanderfrangos/crushee/releases/download/v2.4.6/Crushee-v2.4.6-win-portable.zip

The following PowerShell command will print a calculated SHA256 hash:

    (Get-FileHash -Path Crushee-v2.4.6-win-portable.zip -Algorithm SHA256).Hash

This command should be executed against an independently downloaded archive, as well
as the copy distributed with the package. Both hash values should be identical. A
matching hash value should confirm that no corruption or tampering has occurred
during this package's generation process.

For reference, the following SHA256 hash was calculated during the package's automated creation:

In cases where actual malware is found, the packages are subject to removal. Software sometimes has false positives. Moderators do not necessarily validate the safety of the underlying software, only that a package retrieves software from the official distribution point and/or validate embedded software against official distribution point (where distribution rights allow redistribution).

Chocolatey Pro provides runtime protection from possible malware.
